Dear Members of the
Community,
It
takes a community to educate our children, and
they are all our children. This district
has made a “Commitment to Excellence,” in which
we pledge to educate every child to a level that
prepares him/her for post-secondary learning.
Our district has also made a pledge to create a
safe and caring learning environment for every
child. We readily accept the challenge to
provide a quality 21st century education to our
kids from Lander and the surrounding
communities.
This district is staffed
by a talented and dedicated group of educators,
and all employees of this district are
educators. We are dedicated to challenging our
students to higher levels of performance. We
challenge ourselves to be better every day.
Fremont County School
District 1 is asking for members of the
community to be partners in supporting rigorous
educational standards. Our staff can care
for and teach every child who attends school.
When kids miss too much school, however, it’s
impossible for staff members to fill in the
gaps. The time a student misses in a classroom
or a practice can never entirely be made up.
Encouraging kids to be involved in school
activities and then attending those events is a
fun way to support our community’s youth. PIE
groups in every school are always looking for
more parents to become part of their positive
partnership efforts. Reading to children is a
great way to pass the time while building
background knowledge and vocabulary skills.
Parents and community members can volunteer time
in classrooms or as part of school activities.
Our staff can inspire students to learn beyond
their limits, but we need to reinforce the
importance of education at home and throughout
the community.
In the past, we have
enjoyed tremendous support from parents,
businesses and community members. We are
confident we can continue to work together as
partners to support learning for our young
people. As you will see from the information
provided in this report, we are doing many
outstanding things for our kids. You will also
see that we have areas in which we need to
improve.
We accept the challenge
to make learning better for every child in our
district. I have no doubt that the staff of
Fremont County School District 1, with the
support of this community, can create the best
learning environment for children in the state
of Wyoming. The results of our cooperative
efforts will be higher levels of performance for
our kids.
Remember, we are all
teachers of our children.
