About Our Principal
About Mr. Morton
I am so excited to be your principal. Baldwin Creek is a special place that promotes academics and positive behavior. It’s truly an honor and privilege to be a part of such a wonderful team of educators here at Baldwin Creek.
I would like to tell you about myself so that you will know a little about me when you come to school. I was born and raised in Bozeman Montana. I grew up with one brother and my mom and dad. My dad is a retired police officer and my mom is a hair stylist. I grew up on a small ranch and spent summers in the mountains riding horses, fishing, camping and hunting in the fall.
Throughout my school years I studied hard and competed in sports. I learned to value my teachers and coaches and soon realized how many lessons I was learning from them. After I graduated from high school, I went to college on a sports scholarship. I played football and wrestled at the University of Montana – Western in Dillon, MT and graduated with a degree in secondary education.
My first teaching job was in a small village in Alaska named Gambell. Gambell is located on an island in the middle of the Bering Sea. It was a great teaching experience, and I learned a lot about the culture of the Yupik Eskimo. After my time on the island, I moved to Lander to become a social studies teacher and coach. After a few years, I moved back to Montana and received my Master’s degree in Educational Leadership at Rocky Mountain College in Billings. During the program I grew to understand the importance of early childhood education. I realized how vital it is to reach children at a young age. After graduating, my family and I found our way back to Lander and I became an elementary principal. I have two daughters, Mason 10, and Finley 7. My wife’s name is Lorielle, and we have been married for 13 years. Having young children gives me motivation to learn new and exciting instructional practices to educate the young minds of Lander. See you soon!
