Happy Friday, LMS Families!!  I hope you have had a great week and are looking forward to beautiful weather to get outside and enjoy where we live.  If you are looking for something to do, our LMS track team will be competing on Saturday at the Lander Invitational starting at 9:00 a.m. at Bill Bush Stadium.  The weather will be gorgeous so a perfect day to go out and support our student athletes.

Thank you to all our readers that gave feedback on last week's blog post.  I hope that this is something you will find useful and I welcome any comments or suggestions that you have.  Have a great weekend!!

WY-Topp Testing: LMS will participate in the state assessment starting on Monday, April 30th. We will test students April 30, May 1, and May 2. We will be testing in two blocks each day (8:30 to 10:30 and 1:00 to 3:00). I would like to ask that parents refrain from checking out students or making any appointments during our testing times. We will provide students with a light breakfast on testing days (muffin or bagel, fruit, and juice). Please ensure that your student(s) eats a healthy breakfast each day and gets plenty of rest the night before. Students need to arrive at school on time; first bell is at 7:55 a.m. Tardy bell is at 8:00 a.m. If you have any specific questions about testing, please give me a call.

Dance, Dance, Dance! LMS Student Council will host the last dance of the school year on Friday, May 4th from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. If you would be interested in chaperoning, please contact Mrs. Jensen at cristinajensen@landerschools.org

Missing Assignment Lists and Grades: Our missing assignment lists will be going out again weekly on Thursday mornings at 8:00 a.m. Please check your parent portal for current grades and progress.

This Past Week:

Students got a special treat on Tuesday when Albert Jumbe, Scholarship Coordinator for the Asante Africa Foundation came and shared about his life in Tanzania. Check out the story on County 10

Riverton artist, Robert Martinez has joined us all week during lunch to work on some special air brush paintings.  Robert is an amazing artist and did this work freehand.  It was a sight to see, for sure. Beautiful art

Our 6th, 7th, and 8th grade bands gave their final concert of the year last night.  You can see all the growth the 3 classes have made.  Mr. Clark gave us a special treat when a combined 7th and 8th grade band played for us.  There were a lot of toes tappin' up there on stage and I will admit, mine were as well.  Congratulations to our bands and good job, Mr. Clark.  Check out the Lander Middle School Twitter for pictures and a 30 second video of the combined performance.

Our 6th graders took part in a life simulation on Wednesday at the Fremont County Fairgrounds called Life R U Ready?  The Life RU Ready? Project is a "life-simulation" health fair for teens designed to increase awareness of the consequences of risky behavior, to decrease motivation to participate in risk taking behavior, and to provide new opportunities for parent-teen communication. Life R U Ready
