Good morning LMS Families!

It's hard to believe that we are facing down the end of our second full month of school and winding down the first trimester.  The trimester ends on November 13th.  We will be hosting parent teacher conferences on Tuesday, October 23rd from 3:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. and Wednesday, October 24th from 3:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.  This will be an opportunity for you to meet with your student's teachers to discuss how they are performing academically.

I would also like to invite our parents to participate in the School Comprehensive Climate Inventory.  This is a nationally recognized school climate survey that provides an in-depth profile of your school community's particular strengths, as well as areas for improvement.  This survey will help us make informed decisions for lasting improvement.  For parents that take the survey at LMS, we will be entering your names into a drawing for the chance to win 1 of 2 Kindle Fires.  If you are unable to join us for conferences, I would still like to encourage you to participate.  Here is the link Parent Survey.

Thank you for all of the feedback that we have received from our recent PIE meeting on Standards Based Grading.  I appreciate the phone calls and emails with your questions.  Due to parent feedback, we will be recording all of our PIE meetings from now on and I will post the videos on the blog.  I am including the video again, if you have not had the chance to watch it.

6th Grade Language Arts hosted their annual Poetry Slam last Friday.  Parents were invited to come and listen to students' presenting their original poems.  I was able to get down and listen, I am very proud of the work our students have done.  Walt Whitman would be proud! Here are a couple of shots of the resident poets!
