It is hard to believe but the winter sports season came to a close this weekend for Wrestling, Swimming and Nordic Skiing and it was an excellent finish for all three teams.

Wrestling finished their season with a 7th place team finish at the State Wrestling Tournament at the Casper Event Center.  Palmer Schafer won the 138lb State Championship in a thrilling match that marks his last as a LVHS Tiger!  William Atnip earned 2nd place after a difficult championship match.  Six other Tigers earned their way to the podium with Nathan Motherway and Brodie Dempster finishing 6th, Austin Bennett and Brady Carey 5th, and DeAundre Velarde and Nathan Redman earned 4th place. Congratulations to Coach Atnip, his staff and entire team on an excellent season!

Well if you didn't hear the annual parade down main street last night, then let me be the first to inform you that the LVHS Swim team brought home their 21st consecutive Wyoming HIgh School State Championship with a 100 point victory over Lyman!  The Tigers won 8 of the 12 total events at the Campbell County Aquatics Center on Saturday.  I apologize that I do not have a full list of placers, however here are the athletes who went to the podium in the 8 events that we won.  All three relay teams took first place. In the 100 Free Ryan Brinda earned 1st, Treyton Martinsen 2nd, and Gavin Roy 3rd. Caleb Huelskamp won the 200 and 500 Free while Lucas Hulme finished 4th in the 200 and Richard Ellis 4th in the 500. Treyton Martinsen won the 50 Free and Colin Kinney took 4th and Nick Kulow won the 200 Ind Medley Relay,   Special Congrats to Assistant Coach Tim Hester for being named Assistant Coach of the Year and to Head Coach LT Chu for being named Coach of the Year.  Congrats to LT, her staff and the entire team on another spectacular state meet.  If you have not made it to a state swim meet I would highly recommend adding it to your bucket list.

Our Nordic Ski teams had a beautiful finish to their season In Jackson Saturday with the Girls earning a 3rd place finish and the boys 4th.  Individually Molly Fehringer placed 4th, Ursula Anderson 14th, and Emilee Robins 16th for the girls.  Noah Gans took 3rd and Kyle Sandal 14th for the boys team.   On Friday Noah placed 2nd, Kyle 5th and Zane Sandal 18th for the boys. Molly was 6th, Emilee 9th, Ursula 16th and Edain Rodgers finished 18th. Congrats to Coach Cessna, his staff and entire team on their great season.

The Freshmen Girls Basketball team won their end of the season tournament this past weekend marking an end to a great season for them.  Earlier in the week the Lady Tigers won the Keeper of the Gold Trophy in the annual Riverton Rivalry game.  The Boys team were narrowly defeated after being tied in the final minutes of the game.  Both teams will be at Riverton Thursday-Saturday this week at the 3A West Regional in hopes of securing a berth to the state tournament next weekend in Casper.

Monday all students except seniors will receive information of course selection for next year.  Course selection will be online this year and the counselors will be working with students, according to grade over the course of the next month to ensure their schedules are complete.  I included a link for all of you to the 2017-18 Course Enrollment Guide at the end of this paragraph.  This is your source for all information about our courses, pre-requisites, requirements, etc.  This year the guide is all online and thanks to our Technology Instructional Facilitator, Carrie Johnson it is really user friendly.  Please let me or the counselors know if you have any concerns or questions as you start to look at courses and schedules with your student.  Please note that there are two additions to this years guide.  We have added a link to our nine Career Pathways as well as a parent student resource for College Career Readiness with easy suggestions to follow based on the grade level of your student.   Including in that document is a link to the LVHS Parent/Community College Contact List that will provide a resource to our students as they seek local contacts who are familiar with colleges they are contemplating attending.  A link to that sheet is also located on the LVHS Website at www.landershools.org/lvhs.   Click here for course enrollment guide. https://goo.gl/xdXQhJ

I hope you all had a great weekend,
