Hello Tiger Families,

On Wednesday we will give out of highly coveted LVHS Academic Letters to those students who have maintained a minimum 3.5 GPA for two consecutive semesters while in a full schedule, and the Phoenix Awards to those students who have improved their GPA a minimum of 0.5 points from one semester to the next.  Letters to the parents/guardians receiving such honors were sent out and you should all have them.  If you believe that your student should be receiving this but you have not been formally invited please contact Mrs. Lutterman at the LVHS Office ASAP to ensure we have our records correct.  This will happen during our normal celebrations assembly on Wednesday at 2pm and will be followed with the American Legion presenting the recent Oratory Contest winners and a student presentation for Prom.

You will be receiving more information about this soon, however I wanted to give you all an early heads up about our 2018 ACT testing date set for Tuesday, April 10.  All Juniors need to report to school that day by 7:30 with a fully charged Chromebook and be ready to take the state required ACT test.  We will be offering a Pre-ACT test to all Freshmen and Sophomore students who choose to take this highly beneficial practice test.  More details about signing up for the Pre-ACT will be coming soon.  During this day we will also be requiring any student with "M" missing work to come to school to complete that overdue work.  Seniors without missing work will not have school that day, nor will Freshmen or Sophomores without missing work that have not chosen to take the Pre-ACT test.  All students taking either the ACT or Pre-ACT will be released immediately following the test.  More details will follow in this blog and the upcoming newsletter.

LVHS Guidance Counselor, Mrs. Stanbury will be offering a new Scholarship Night this Wednesday at 6pm at LVHS.  Anyone wanting help on applying, finding or finishing scholarships are encouraged to attend, please RSVP with sstanbury@landerschools.org, so she can plan accordingly.  The LVHS Guidance Office offers many opportunities to help students and parents as they transition to the next level and I highly encourage all parents to become involved in these activities, you will not regret it.

Congratulations to Mrs. Kistemann and her Valley Singers and Girls Select Choirs, both of which received the highest scores possible last Wednesday at the Casper Jazz Festival.  Anyone who has been to a choir concert recently is not surprised and I highly encourage those who have not to make your way to the upcoming spring concert to hear the incredible sounds of our music program!

Congrats to our boys basketball team for sweeping Lyman and Pinedale this weekend with all teams winning each day.  Congrats to the Ladies who split earning the win on Saturday against Pinedale.  A big congrats to our grapplers who continue to have an excellent season with a big rivalry win on Thursday night in their Senior Night dual against Riverton!  Congrats to the Nordic team who dominated the Lander Invite in both boys and girls competition.  Congrats and good luck to our Conference Champ Swim team and their coaches of the year, Shawna Morgan and Tim Hester, along with Athlete of the Year, Caleb Huelskamp as they head off to bring home the 22nd consecutive State Championship in Laramie on Thursday and Friday.   Hope to see you all back in the Fieldhouse on Friday/Saturday for live basketball action against Powell and Cody.

Please remember that no students will have school on Monday, February 19th due to President's Day and high school students will not have school on Friday, February 23rd as this is the comp day for high school students starting a day early in August.  We will have a normal schedule on Tuesday and Wednesday and students will follow a Friday schedule on Thursday to keep our blocks balanced.

A big thank you to all the parents who continue to support our students and teachers in our quest to ensure that Every Student, Every Day gets everything they need to be successful at the next level.  Please let me know if we can do anything to assist you in this endeavor.  I hope you all have a great week!
