iHello Tiger Families,

As you can tell by the headline, it was another busy week for our talented and involved students and staff at LVHS.  The FFA competed at their state competition and although I do not have a full list of results and events, I do know that Flint Pokorney was elected as the State Treasurer and Kiley McConnell was elected as State Reporter. I also know our horse judging team took 1st and Flint Pokorney also earned a 1st place qualifying them to compete at Nationals next fall.  A special thanks to Mr. McConnell for the months of preparation to get these students ready to compete at such a high level.

I had the pleasure to attend the 50th Anniversary of the Wyoming Art Symposium at the Casper Events Center this past Friday where over 4,000 pieces of high school art was on display.  LVHS represented us well with over 100 pieces being submitted and approximately a third of those were awarded blue ribbons.  Special congratulations to Jade Ware and Slater Coffee who both had pieces selected as First Lady Choice Awards by Mrs. Mead.  Jade actually had two different pieces selected and her and Slater's work will be on display over the course of the next year at the Governor's Mansion.  A special thanks to Mrs. PIckinpaugh, Mr. Even, and Mr. Dayton for all of their hard work to get our students to this amazing event.  A special kudos to Mr. Dayton who presided over the event as the President of the Wyoming Art Teachers Association.

Congrats to the girls soccer team who split their home games this weekend with a big win over Torrington on Saturday. The boys were able to get a great sweep on the weekend defeating both Buffalo and Torrington.  The LVHS Choir and Band performed in Green River on Monday and Tuesday at their annual festival, with many students able to have a great experience working with groups and directors from around the state.  Thanks to all of our coaches and directors for their hard work and dedication to our students.

Several weeks ago our TEAM(Tests of Engineering Aptitude and Mathematics) team competed in a statewide competition and the results were recently released. In the first year of competition by LVHS, both our 9th/10th grade and 11th/12th grade team both placed second place.  This was a great opportunity for our students to get involved with yet another activity and as always they never cease to amaze me with their ability to compete!  Special thanks to Mr. Meyer, Mr. Robson, and Mr. Else for taking the initiative to make this happen for our students.

The Junior class hosted Prom on Saturday night at the LVHS Fieldhouse.  A great crowd attended the Hollywood themed event with music provided in house by our Chrome Depot DJ's and catered by our own LVHS Culinary Art's team.  It was great to see so many students involved in making this special night happen.  Occasions like these always makes me feel so grateful for the quality of students that you send us each day.  I always thoroughly enjoy interacting with our students at events like these.  Their great manners and fun personalities make them truly a pleasure to be around!  Thank you parents, you have done a great job!  A special thanks to Mrs. Babb and Mrs. Hinkle for guiding these students to another successful event.  Thanks to Mrs. Joyes for her culinary art work and Mr. Shoutis for guiding the Chrome Depot D.J's.

Students taking Advanced Placement classes will begin taking their end of course AP tests next week.  Students meeting expectations of the testing environment and who have completed all other course requirements will no longer be required to attend that class.  We respect that those students have put in a great amount of time and effort to get to this point with these classes and most have multiple AP tests and thus we are trying to honor their time and commitment.  Students will be given a permission form to exempt them from that class for the remainder of the school year if they meet the expectations during their test, this must be signed by you before they can leave.  If you would prefer they continue to attend class they will use it as a study hall for their other classes.

Other than the FBLA Banquet on Monday and Mr. LVHS on Tuesday it appears that all other events are on the road this week.

Online registration for new and returning students next year is now open at . Please take time to get this taken care of to ensure your students schedule and other registration materials are not delayed.

In an attempt to solicit more feedback from our patrons FCSD #1 now has an online suggestion box available at .  This is anonymous unless you choose to leave your contact information in the final questions.

Parents please do not forget that the District-wide PIE meeting is next Monday, April 30th at 7pm at Central Office. Due to other agenda items, there will be no building breakouts at this meeting.  LVHS will still have it's building PIE meeting on Tuesday, May 1 at 12 PM in the LVHS Popo Agie Room.
