Hello Tiger Fans,

One of my favorite times of the year is celebrating the students who earned the LVHS Academic Letter by earning a 3.5 or better while taking a full schedule for two consecutive semesters.  On Monday we were able to award this to nearly 150 students at our monthly celebrations assembly.  We also honored our Phoenix Awards Winners who had a .5 or greater increase to their GPA from one semester to the next.  In the spring we will honor those who earn the award again after the first semester and will celebrate those seniors who have earned the letter each of the 6 times that they were eligible.  We were also able to celebrate our state golf champions and runner-ups and our incredible WY-Topp scores!  We have these celebrations the second Monday of the month and parents are welcome and encouraged to attend.

On Tuesday, over 100 students and 25 staff and adult volunteers took part in the annual Challenge Day at LVHS.  We believe this is the 7th time we have put on this event which helps to give students a better understanding of themselves, their peers, and give them some tools to deal with all of the emotions.  Our goal is to have every student have the opportunity to partake in this event before they graduate to ensure all of our students the benefits of this incredible day.

Our Marching Band competed on Saturday at the 2018 State Marching Band Contest at the Casper Events Center where they earned a Excellent Rating for their performance.  They have worked very hard throughout the fall and their performance on Saturday was by far the cleanest since they started performing the show earlier this fall.  Hopefully you will be able to see them one last time on Friday night.  Both our boys and girls cross country teams had 3rd place finishes at the 3A West Conference meet on Friday after at the Lander Golf Course.  Coach Kevin Green was also named the 3A West Boys Coach of the Year for the great season they are having this year.  They will compete at their State Meet on Saturday in Sheridan.

An early reminder that we will be hosting our Parent Teacher Conferences as the first quarter comes to a close next week on Tuesday, October 23rd (4pm-7pm) and Wednesday, October 24th (3:30pm- 7pm) in the LVHS Commons.  We will also be handing out the WY-TOPP results for all current Sophomores and Juniors.  Freshmen should be getting those results mailed home from LMS.  We highly encourage parents to attend one of these two nights and visit with the teachers and to bring your student as all standards-based grading classes are student-led conferences.  Due to the conferences that week, there will be no school on Friday, October 25th.

We hope you will be able to come cheer on our football (Friday)and volleyball (Saturday) teams as they will host their last home games of the fall season and honor their seniors.  The Volleyball team will also play in Riverton on Thursday.  The Bruce Gresly Aquatics Center will be the proud host of the 3A West Conference Swim Meet on Friday and Saturday as our swimmers have just a couple more chances to get their qualifying times for state which will be in Laramie on Nov 2nd and 3rd.

I hope you all have a great week,

Brad Neuendorf, LVHS Principal
