As I reported in last weeks post the WY-TOPP results are back from this past spring and I have now broken down how LVHS did compared to our other similar size school counterparts. Last week, I did let you know that our science scores were the fourth best scores of any school in the state but we have now learned that our Language Arts score for 10th graders was the 7th best score in the entire state. The schools highlighted in yellow are the seven schools that were consistently outperforming us in most measures in 2014-15 and prior that led us to our embedded time during the school day for students to get assistance (SRB) like all of those schools had at the time. As you can see in the table below as indicated on this measure we seemed to have made up some ground and outperformed Cody, and Powell in all five measures, outperformed Star Valley and Pinedale in all but one, and outperformed Lovell and Jackson in two areas. As always, LVHS is committed to ensuring we meet the needs of Every Student, Every Day and we will strive to do that in order to become the #1 high school in the state of Wyoming in everything that we do. Your students individual results will be included with the quarter progress report during parent teacher conferences October 23/24.

Picture retakes are tomorrow, Monday, October 8th for all those wanting that opportunity. Tomorrow also marks our second celebration of the school year starting at 3pm. We will be honoring our LVHS Academic Letter Award and Phoenix Award Winners and parents of these students already received a special invitation to this event. We will also be celebrating our state champion boys golf team and our runner-up girls golf team. On Tuesday LVHS will host Challenge Day with over 125 students and 30 adults participating in this incredible event that works to create connections and understanding amongst students and adults.
Congratulations to our swim team with a big dual win at Jackson this weekend, our cross country team with some great performances at the Powell Invite, our volleyball team with some solid games in the conference duals, and to our football team for their home shut-out victory over Rawlins. This Friday we are fortunate to host the regional cross country meet at the Lander Golf Course, come support our fabulous runners before they head off to Sheridan next week in search of a state championship! Good luck to our Marching Band as they head to Casper on Saturday for their State Marching Competition after entertaining us at many football games with parts of this years performance.
I hope everyone has a great week!
