Dear Staff, Parents, Community Members,

Fremont County School District #1 has taken information from parent surveys, community feedback, the AdvancED Accreditation process, our recent Organizational Assessment, and other sources as a directive to  generate a Strategic Plan to guide the district for the next several years.  We invited parents, guardians and community members to participate and had district staff who served as committee members.

On behalf of Fremont School District #1, I would like to thank all the participants in our Strategic Plan efforts.  We began the work on November 4 and 5  with twenty five representative members of our community.  We had  two parents, eight classified staff,  seven certified staff,  seven administrative staff, and 1 board member.   We were assisted through the process by a three member team from Krenek Consulting.  During those two days, we worked intensely to create a placemat with our mission, vision, goals, and values which is our District Strategic Plan.

We then, with Krenek Consulting, on December 2 and 3, vetting the placemat to multiple community and district groups including parents, certified staff, principals, classified staff (food service, custodial, transportation, secretaries, and paraprofessionals),   faith-based community members, students, Board members, town groups (City Council, Fire and Police departments), and Central Office administrators.  We appreciate all the feedback from the various groups.

On December 15-17, the original working group took all the comments from the various groups and made appropriate changes to the placemat document.  In addition, they began the work of developing a “roadmap” which is the specific work that is to be done to support the Strategic Plan, determine who is responsible for the work, and the timelines associated with the work.

The importance of this completed Strategic Plan is that it guides the work of the district from the Board Room to the classroom.  It is a map to lead us to our destination.  The Board will approve the plan and you can expect to see reports every other month presented to the Board and also posted on our website.

If you would like further information about the process, feel free to contact the Superintendent of School, Dr. Kathy Hitt or the Director of Curriculum, Mr. Ken Nielsen at 332-4711.

Dr. Kathy Hitt
