Can it really be the second week of May with only a handful of days left in this school year? I could swear that we just started school.  The year has flown by at warp speed and doesn't look like it's going to slow down!  There is a lot happening this month so please check our important dates below and mark your calendars for any upcoming events.  We may be winding down the 2017-2018 school year but we are also starting to prepare for the 2018-2019 school year.  I will include some important information regarding registration, immunizations, and sports physicals in this week's bulletin.  It looks like the weekend promises to have some warmer temperatures, hopefully the sun is out and shining and the rain stays away.

Dates to mark on your Calendar:

  • May 8th – Best of the Best Track Meet
  • May 10th – Laser Tag
  • May 14th – PALS Outreach Assembly, Chinook Winds
  • May 14th – PIE Meeting, 6pm
  • May 17th – Awards Assembly, 6pm
  • May 21/22 – Chromebook turn in
  • May 23 – Locker Clean Out
  • May 24th – Last Day of School, 1/2 day

Online Registration option on menuONLINE REGISTRATION – did you know that you can complete online registration now for the 2018-2019 school year?  It's really easy and doesn't take but a few minutes.  The link to register can be found at the bottom of your parent portal account.   LMS will still mail registration packets home with required paperwork that will need to be turned in.  Look for your packet sometime in June.   If you have any questions or need help, please contact the front office at 332-4040.

Aug 8th and 9th:  Registration; 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

SPORTS PHYSICALS:  LMS will partner with Lander Medical Clinic again this fall for students who will need sports physicals in order to participate in athletics.  All FCSD#1 students are welcome to attend.  Please note – there will be a change in location.  Sports physicals will be done at Lander Medical Clinic from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.  on August 8th and August 9th.  If your child is due for a well-child exam, your provider can fill out the sports physical form at that time eliminating the need for two visits.  If you have questions, please contact LMS at 332-4040 or Lander Medical Clinic at 332-2941

Students entering 7th grade for the 2018-2019 school year are required to get a Tdap ( Tetanus/diphtheria/acellular pertussis ) immunization. This can be obtained through your child's primary health care provider or The Public Health Department. Once completed please bring in documentation of completion. The State of Wyoming mandates immunizations for children attending a private, public, or religious child caring facility, preschool, or school (K-12), full or part time. According to Wyoming State Statute:
Stat. Ann. § 35-4-139A child without the required documentation will not be permitted to attend a school or child caring facility for more than thirty (30) calendar days after the date of entry.

We finished school wide WY-Topp testing on Wednesday.  I am very proud of our students and how they handled the test schedule.  WY-Topp was new to us this year so we had to be pretty flexible with our time but the students showed what troopers they are and went with it.

Prevention Needs Assessment survey is coming up next week for our 6th and 8th graders.  Information and a consent form was mailed home at the beginning of the week.  If you do not want your child to participate, please return the signed form to your child's science teacher.

Our last school dance is scheduled for tonight.  I will post pictures in next week's post.
