Hello LMS Families!
I hope that you are having a restful weekend. We have a busy week ahead, here's what's happening at LMS:
Comprehensive Climate Survey: Today is the last day that the survey is open. LMS is currently at 90% student participation, 89% staff participation, and 24% parent participation. Parents – if you have not yet taken the survey, I would like to encourage you to do so. The data that will be gathered from the results will be important to LMS by providing an in-depth profile of our strengths but also needed areas of improvement. Follow this link to access the inventory. Thanks for your help!
Veteran's Day Breakfast: LMS Students and Staff cordially invite our current servicemen and women and our Veteran's to join us for our third annual Veteran's Day Breakfast on Friday, November 9th from 7:00 a.m. to 7:30 a.m. in the LMS Commons. Last week sixth graders had the opportunity to work with Teton Science School instructors in their English Language Arts classes. Working in the ELA standard of claims, evidence, and analysis, students used rocks to develop and support claims. Interdisciplinary learning at it's best.
Seventh graders are continuing work with their service learning projects as part of our work on Level 4 opportunities. Several 7th grade teams have created projects to help local organizations in the community such as the Food Bank and Lander Pet Connection. Students are collecting items for the Food Bank such as canned goods and non-perishables. Students are collecting items for Lander Pet Connection like pet food, toys, and blankets. If you would like to donate, there are boxes set up by the front office. As well as helping locally, students are working to support a school in Florida that was impacted by Hurricane Michael. We are still trying to finalize who the school is but once we have the information we will share it with our LMS community.
In English Language Arts, eighth graders have been working on the Theme and Summary standard. Making things extra creepy during the week of Halloween, students had the opportunity to read Edgar Allen Poe's "The Raven" and finishing up with "The Tell-Tale Heart" in a Reader's Theater.
Have a great week!
