Good morning, LMS Families!

It's a short week this week, however, a lot of information in the blog including early release on Wednesday and upcoming events.

From Mrs. Jensen:  It's that time of year again where our community comes together to help those in need.  Sign ups are open for:

  • Angel Tree:  Our annual Angel Tree will be up and running again this year.  If you and your family are struggling this year to buy presents, please consider applying for our Angel Tree. Parents complete a short questionnaire about their children's clothing sizes, likes, and needs and we gather the information and put it on a tree in our lobby.  Community members then shop for the kids and LMS wraps the presents for the families! All names will be kept confidential. To qualify, you must have a student enrolled at Lander Middle School.  Applications can be found in the front office or counseling office. Applications are due on Dec. 7th.  Please complete and return as soon as you can. If you have any questions, please email or call Mrs. Jensen at
  • Christmas Baskets:  If you are worried about feeding your family over the long Winter break, please consider completing the Christmas Basket application from the Elks.  Applications can be found at the LMS front desk.  This will enable a family to receive a basket full of food for the holiday.

From Mrs. Rounds, 8th grade Spanish:

Hola 8th Grade Parents!

My name is Mrs. Rounds and I will be your child's Spanish teacher for the next 12 weeks. So many parents’ biggest concern with their child taking a Spanish class is that they are unable to help them practice it at home. The following links and resources are great for helping your child practice Spanish at home or even on the go. Check them out!

¡Buena Suerte! Please don't hesitate to contact me with any concerns regarding your child! Looking forward to this trimester!

From Mr. Stephen, 6th grade Math:

We will be continuing our work on ratios. Focusing on equivalent forms of ratios, equivalent ratio tables, and graphing equivalent ratios. For examples and student support you can look at your students math folder of work, math notebook for notes, or my district website for video tutorials and online practice. Mr. Stephen's District Website

Veteran's Day Video:

I reported in last week's blog about the wonderful breakfast that Student Council organized for our military veterans and their families.  We filmed parts of the breakfast and asked our veterans what Veteran's Day means to them.  Here is the video.

Report Cards:

Trimester One ended last Tuesday, November 13th.  Report cards will be mailed home today and tomorrow.  If you have questions regarding your students grades, please contact the appropriate teacher.

Saturday School:

LMS will hold Saturday School on December 1st and December 15th for any students that have incomplete assessments, missing work or projects.  This will not be mandatory, however, it is strongly recommended for students who have incompletes listed in their grades.  Times will be from 8:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.  We will notify parents of those students we will be inviting to attend, next week.

Early Release Wednesday:

Wednesday is a half day of school and students will be released at 12:20 p.m.  Buses will depart LMS at 12:25 p.m.  We will serve lunch on Wednesday and follow a shortened schedule.

During this time of Thanksgiving, I want to share my gratitude and thank you for being such an important part of the LMS community.  On behalf of the Lander Middle School faculty and staff, I would like to thank you for your continued support and wish you all a safe and happy holiday.  We will see everyone back here on November 26th.
