Hello LMS Families –
We are in the final week of school before the Christmas break. I would like to wish all of our LMS parents, students, staff, and friends a safe, happy holiday season. I would also like to acknowledge the contribution of staff, students, and parents to LMS in 2018. Walt Disney said, "You can dream, create, design, and build the most wonderful ideas in the world, but it requires people to make those dreams a reality." The reality is that learning experiences, classroom lessons, and projects could not have happened this year without a great deal of commitment and support from the staff, students, and parents. Thank you.
I would personally like to say a huge thank you to Cristina Jensen for all of her hard work with the Angel Tree. It takes a lot of time and commitment on her part and because of her dedication and that of those who donated, 77 kiddos will have an amazing Christmas!
Here is what's happening this week:
Choir: LMS Choir students will perform tonight at 7pm in the LVHS auditorium for their annual Holiday concert.
Boys Basketball: Practice begins today.
- 7th grade Parent Meeting, Thursday, 12/20 at 5:15 p.m. at Gannett Peak Elementary
- 8th grade Parent Meeting, Tuesday, 1/8 at 6:00 p.m. in the LMS Library
Early Dismissal Friday: Friday is a 1/2 day and we will dismiss at 12:20 p.m. School will resume on Monday, January 7th at 7:55 a.m.
Mrs. Rounds' FLEX group: 8th graders in Mrs. Rounds' FLEX group have been busy creating Christmas care packages for the residents at Westward Heights this past week. Students will travel to the facility to deliver the packages on Thursday.
FACS: We are finishishing up our baking unit in Creative Foods where we have studied yeast, baking powder, baking soda and the various products in which they are used. The students made sugar cookies from scratch this week and are really showing how responsible they can be in the kitchen in regards to sanitation, safety and being able to follow a recipe as well as working together in groups.
LMS Journal: A sixth grade cross-curricular FLEX group combined social studies and writing to publish the first LMS Journal. The school newspaper is a work in progress, and Mr. Swift and Mrs. Parker hope to incorporate reporters from all grade levels as the paper grows. You can read it here.
On behalf of the LMS Staff, we would like to wish you and yours a wonderful Christmas break with your children, family and friends. We will see you in the New Year!
