Original blog post:

As you are all aware, it has been a rough week for the LVHS Community as we suffered a terrible loss this past week.  It is often said that adversity defines character and this was definitely shown this past week.  We all had to take care of each other and I think we are all a bit closer because of this incident.  I was beaming with pride by the packed house at the service on Saturday, with the number of students and staff, past and present that were there to honor Ryon.  It reinforced the incredible passion and care she gave to others and it was obvious the lasting impact that she made.  Many staff have remarked about heartache being the price of caring and loving our students and although this was a very difficult  burden, the memories we have and the lessons she taught us are well worth that cost.  Once a Tiger, Always a Tiger!

For our parents, we know that this has been a difficult week for many of our students.  Our counselors are standing by at any time to assist you or your students get through this difficult time. Please do not hesitate to let us know if we can help in any way.

Congratulations to the following students who have auditioned and been selected for the following honors:

We invite you all to come and support our incredible Band/Choir students during our Winter Concert on Monday, Dec 12th at 7pm in the LVHS Auditorium.

I am proud to announce that Lander Valley High School will host a Lander Community Christmas Dinner on Christmas Day from 11:30-1:30 in the LVHS Commons.  I want to give many thanks to Annabeth Babcock for seeing the need, finding the vision, and dedicating herself to this cause.  She came to me a couple months ago with this fabulous idea and since then she has been working tirelessly to ensure this is a successful event for all those wanting to share company on Christmas Day.   She plans on feeding up to 500 people and has everything set for the occasion.  If you are interested in helping through service or donation I am sure she would be grateful and you can coordinate those efforts through the LVHS front office.  I would also like to thank the many gracious LVHS students and staff along with the larger Lander Community who are working beside Annabeth to ensure this is a success for our entire community.

This week our Winter Activities begin with competition.  Nordic Skiing will be at Pinedale, Basketball is at Mountain View, Speech and Debate at Green River, Wrestling at Powell, and Swimming at Powell.  Good luck to all of our teams.

Lastly, our monthly PIE (Parent) Meeting will be held tomorrow (Tuesday, December 6, at 6pm) in the LVHS Popo Agie Room.  We will hear from LVHS Librarian and Videography teacher Nate Shoutis.
