LVHS Principal blog for January 17th 2016
Hello Tiger Family,
I know it is hard to believe but a lot of time and effort has been going into planning and preparing for the 2016-17 school year even though we have just begun the 2nd semester of this school year. All of the revisions to our enrollment guide are being finalized so that we can soon begin the registration process during the first week of February. On February 1st, our counselors will spend the day at LMS where they will work with the 8th graders which will be followed by the annual parent night for incoming freshmen and their parents on Feb 1 at 6 pm in the LVHS Commons/Auditorium. Registration for all other students will kickoff later that week. You will be receiving more information in a mailing that will be sent home later this week. Please,if you have any concerns or questions about this process, just give our counselors or myself a call and we will be glad to help.
Tomorrow, Lander Valley High School will proudly unveil the new Success Academy which will be tied to our Student Responsibility Block (SRB). The Success Academy will focus on students who have not met standards and expectations and will provide an environment of support to students with high staff ratios where students will have Individual Learning Plans to ensure that we are able to meet our students needs. We started off the year with a teacher referral system during SRB which has worked very well for the majority of our students but with recent data we are able to continue to refine our focus to students who continue to need further support, remediation, and structure.
Congratulations to our Lady Tiger Basketball players who brought home the Traveling Trophy from our rivals in RIverton with their great performance this past Thursday. I also want to congratulate our Lander Nordic Ski Team who hosted and competed well this weekend at their annual home meet at Beaver Creek. It was an incredible meet at a beautiful venue and I thank all of the volunteers that it took to make the event such a success. I also congratulate our Speech and Debate team who competed well at Casper this past weekend. This week wrestlers from all over the state will converge on Lander as we host the third annual Lander Invitational and will begin the busy weekend by also hosting a dual prior to the Invite on Thursday night. Swimming will travel to Lyman/Worland, Basketball to Cody/Powell and Speech and Debate to Evanston. We would also like to invite everyone to the Lander Valley High School Community night on Tuesday (Jan. 19) from 6-8pm with the University of Wyoming Artmobile, featuring the exhibition "Surrealism: Visions of the Mind" with an interactive Surrealist game! This event is brought to you by Union Wireless and the University of Wyoming and LVHS is proud to host such an event for our community.
I hope everyone has a great week,
Brad Neuendorf, LVHS principal
