LVHS Principal blog post 02-06: All-State Choir competes in Cody, students address Legislature
Hello Tiger Family,
Congratulations to the following students who performed at the Wyoming All-State Band and Choir in Cody. This is a unique and distinguished opportunity for our students who get to work from directors from all over the United States. Those directors remarked that this group of Wyoming students were among the most professional and polished high school students they have ever worked with. Congratulations ladies and gentlemen!

This past week 25 students from LVHS and another 10 from Pathfinder embarked on a trip to Cheyenne to learn more about the legislative process. They received an overview of the bill process including specific information about current bills on the floors of both houses. They also learned about the lobbying process and were even able to meet many legislators and the Governor. I am always impressed by the number of opportunities our students have and the amount of students who take us up on these opportunities.
We had two students compete at the American Legion oratory contest over the weekend, LVHS students Jalynn Brough received first place, while Cameron Brough placed second! Congratulations and good luck at the next level.
Our wrestling team competed at the Ron Thon All-State, All-Class Tournament this past weekend where Nathan Redman placed 5th and Palmer Schafer placed 2nd. We will dual with Riverton on Thursday night and will then take the weekend off in preparation for Regionals on 2/17 in Cody. Congratulations to the freshmen boys and the varsity girls who both earned victories over rival Riverton this past weekend on the hardwood. The basketball teams will return to play on Friday at Star Valley and Saturday at Pinedale. Congrats to our Nordic team who competed well this past weekend at Cody, this is one group who is definitely enjoying the incredible winter we are having. The ski team will head to the Laramie Classic and Freestyle event this weekend. The boys swimming team also competed well this weekend as they prepared for state at the Campbell County Aquatics Center in Gillette, just a couple more weeks before they return for state.
I hope you can make it to our Monthly PIE (Parent) meeting is tomorrow (Tuesday, Feb. 7th at 6pm in the LVHS Popo Agie Room). There will be an update from Student Council as well as an update on all of the exciting things occurring as we move forward with our full-implementation of Professional Learning Communities (PLC's).
