LVHS Principal blog post 04-02-2018
Hello Tiger Families,
I just wanted to welcome you all back after what I hope was an exciting spring break for your family. We are down to seven weeks left this semester and can't wait to finish strong and know that we will have a great end to a fabulous school year with all of your help.
Prior to break, our U.S. History classes put on their annual Night at the Museum event which brought together the community for a night of excellent history projects. I heard many comments from those in attendance about the quality of the projects and the great effort and time that our students put into connecting with their own personal history. If you have not had a chance to attend this event that happens annually each spring you need to be sure to make this a must do!
Even on spring break, LVHS keeps it's students busy. I want to thank and congratulate the cast of the Twelfth Night production for three fabulous showings they put on last weekend. This Shakespeare event happens annually at LVHS in the spring and each year we seem to add more students, excitement, and quality to the great production. Thanks to all those involved in the making and supporting of this opportunity for our students.
Our spring sports teams competed over break and a couple names that deserve special recognition. Bridger Kimber set a 2 feet personal best with a 14'1" Pole Vault winning the Yellowstone Invite in Cody while Conner Lebeau won the same meet with a winning shot put throw and personal best of 37'1". That same weekend the Lander Boys Soccer team won against Douglas with Jacob Lytle being named Wyoming player of the week.
Our Close-up students attending their bi-annual trip to Washington D.C. to learn about the ins and outs of government as well as all the amazing history that is packed into one area. It was a great experience for all!
Don't forget that Tuesday, April 10th is ACT testing day. Juniors are required to be here, freshmen and sophomores who chose to take the PreACT must be here. We will be calling select students who are in need of extra time to complete their Individual Learning Plan's (ILP's) to earn credit from last semester to have them also attend this day.
Our PIE meeting is normally scheduled for tomorrow, however I have interviews all day tomorrow and we have our freshmen registration night tomorrow night. Thus I would like to hold our PIE meeting next Tuesday at 6pm.
I can't wait to see all of your students tomorrow!
