Hello Tiger Family,

Wow! We have had an amazing start to our school year and we are so thankful to all of our students and parents for everything you did to ensure your students were ready for the beginning of the school year.  For those of you new to LVHS this is my way to keep the communication always going with our incredible students and parents.  I typically send it out on Sunday night but because it is my first one and several things coming up first thing next week I wanted to get the information out a little sooner.

Monday we will have Lifetouch here in the morning taking school pictures.  It is required that every student get their photo taken for their student ID's, yearbook, and our student management system, packets were also made available for purchase of photos or you can get on the Lifetouch website for more information.

On Tuesday we will host our annual Open House from 6-7:30PM.  We will hand you your student's schedule and allow you to move freely from room to room.  This allows you to come late or leave early and really see the teachers that you are interested in seeing.  You are encouraged to see all, however we understand that time is of the essence and we just hope you will come visit us!

Tonight is your first chance to take a look at our LVHS Tiger Football Team under the direction of our new head football coach, John Scott.  They have a jamboree that begins at 4pm.  They will be on the road for the next couple weeks and then host the home opener on September 14th at 7pm against Evanston.  You can also watch our returning state champion girls swim team begin their 2018 season tonight and tomorrow at the Bruce Gresly Pentathalon.  Volleyball already has their first win under their belt with a win at Riverton against Wind River earlier today, they will continue in that tournament through Saturday.  Cross Country is also on the road today and will get results out through twitter once that is wrapped up.  Our LVHS Golf team is almost halfway through their season and have had incredible success with both the boys and girls teams winning this week's Terry Berg Invite!

As a parent of an LVHS student I would highly recommend that you follow us on twitter @Fremont1_LVHS where we post all the happenings of our amazing students and school!

Also I would encourage anyone interested to join us for our PIE meetings on the first Tuesday of each month.  We alternate between a 12pm and 6pm start time to accommodate parents schedules.  The first one will be Tuesday, September 4th at 12 which means the second one will be Tuesday, October 2nd at 6pm.  All meetings are hosted at LVHS in the Popo Agie Room.  Please note that these meetings are not for fundraiser, rather they are a way to engage and inform parents into the happenings of LVHS.  They typically follow a simple agenda much like this:

  1. Student Council Report — Report from our students about what they are working on….
  2. Department Report — Each month a different department member reports to the parents about what is going on in their respective curricular departments
  3. Principal's Report — I would report about the happenings of LVHS.  Often this is from things specifically asked from me during the next agenda item
  4. Action Items — Things the parents would like me to work on to move LVHS forward.  These are not specific student requests (those should be done by private meeting) these are larger more global concerns for all students….

I sure hope that you will be able to make these meetings and if not, please know that if you ever have any concerns or questions I am happy to meet with you in person or over the phone to help ensure we are doing everything we can to meet the needs of all of our students.

Please note that below is a file that explains our current visitor check in system.  For most parents they simply come to the office to pick up a student or drop off something they may have forgotten, however if your visit requires you to be in other areas of the building or amongst students then we will need to have a government issued ID so that we can print your visitor pass.  Please be sure to bring these, especially when attending events like our Celebrations Assemblies which happen the second Monday of each month.

I hope that all of your students had an amazing first week at LVHS and I can't wait to continue our work to ensure we meet the needs of Every Student, Every Day!
