Hello Tiger Families,

I hope that you all have received your 1st semester report card as they were sent out last Thursday.  If you have not by tomorrow, please don’t hesitate to give the office a call and let us know.  Any student who has an (I) or incomplete on their report card also should have received a letter explaining the process to complete that class.  An “I” or incomplete indicates that your student hasn’t met the proficiency requirements for at least one standard and has work yet to do in that class.  We encourage you to work with your student and their teacher to ensure that gets completed as soon as possible.  As stated in the letter, students have the rest of the semester and even summer school to technically get it done, and for some students it may take that long.  However, for most of our students, they can get it done much quicker than that and hope that they will do so to ensure they receive the credits they need.   Parents also remember that learning at LVHS is never done and we also allow students who feel like they did not earn the grade they were wanting to work individually with that teacher to improve their semester grades.  They are limited to the same time frame as those earning “I’s” and thus any grade changes from this past semester would need to be completed no later than the end of summer school.  If your student plans to use this opportunity they need to make arrangements with their teachers right away so they can assist your student in this opportunity.  Keep in mind that most of our teachers do not work during summer school, so any plans to deal with this during that time would have to be worked out with their teachers now.

Congratulations to our girls basketball team who had an epic come-from-behind win to defeat the Powell Panthers on Saturday night.  Down 27-9 at the half, the Tigers rallied back to win the game 44-41.  The boys also earn a victory over Powell.  Both teams also defeated Lovell on the road earlier in the week.  The Tigers will host rival Riverton on Friday night.  The wrestling team hosted their annual Lander Invitational on Friday and Saturday with both Nathan Redman and Jack Sweeney earning second place medals in a tough tournament.  Caesar Weed, Paxton Rees, and Kyler Lesher all finished 5th and Ty Spiess finished fourth in the JV tournament.  Congrats to our Speech and Debate team who have had two solid performances on the road the last couple of weekends.  Last week our team took second out of 18 teams in Informative and this week we took 3rd in sweeps, Megan Haratyk took third in informative,  Vaishnavi Bhavsar placed fifth in Poetry and they together placed second in duets.  Junior Dallin Langford finished third place in the Lincoln-Douglas Debate.  Our nordic ski team had another impressive performance at the former Olympic Venue Soldier Hollow over the weekend but as of press time more details were not available.  Finally, Congratulations to our boys swim team who earned an impressive victory at the Bruce Gresly Invitational over the weekend with the 400 free relay team of Ryan Brinda, Caleb Huelskamp, Nick Kulow, and Johnny Kulow breaking the 3A State record by nearly four seconds in the final race of the day!

On Thursday we will host both Mountain View and Jackson in wrestling with action starting at 4pm.  On Friday we will host Riverton with games starting at 3pm and varsity girls at 6 and varsity boys at 7:30.

Have a great week everyone,

Brad Neuendorf, LVHS Principal
