LVHS Principal blog post 11-05-2018
Hello Tiger Fans,
We had another fabulous weekend as our ladies won their third consecutive state swim meet in Laramie this weekend by over 100 points to Powell. During conference we narrowly escaped defeat to Powell, however after a strong taper and final preparation our girls came out and ended up breaking a state record, four school records, had the athlete of the meet, and the coach of the year! If you have not been to a state swim meet, I highly recommend it as it will do wonders for your Tiger pride as you watch our swimmers graciously accept medal after medal and eventually claim a team championship as a result of all of their individual efforts. Congratulations to Coach Shawna Morgan who was named the state swim coach of the year and to her entire staff and team on another incredible season.
Congratulations to Coach Marissa Powell, her staff, and team who competed at state for the first time since 2012 and ended up winning on Friday earning them a spot in the consolation semi-finals on Saturday. I am not sure the last time a Tiger Volleyball team competed on a Saturday at state but I know it was prior to 2012! Special congratulations to Abbie Renner and Demi Stauffenberg for both being named All-State for their performance!
This officially brings our fall sports season to a close and we are so proud of our students accomplishments.
- Boys Golf repeats as State Champions
- Cross Country Boys finish 3rd at State, Girls 4th
- Football team qualifies for State Play-offs
- Volleyball team qualifies for State
- Girls Swim team earns third-straight state championship.
Congratulations to the entire LVHS student body and staff who just received their 2017-18 school report card and we passed with flying colors. The State of Wyoming and the U.S. Department of Education assessed our school in different areas and all of them were at a minimum meeting the targets set by both governmental agencies.
In the areas of achievement, graduation rate, and post-secondary readiness, LVHS received the highest rating by either the state or feds. Achievement was scored as the the percent proficient or above on the state test in English and Math. Graduation rate was a measure of the prior year four year, on-time graduation rate and LVHS where we had 91.5% graduation rate. Post-secondary readiness is simply the percent of all of those graduates that demonstrated college or career readiness through the following standards:
Meeting the success curriculum
Testing ready on Advanced Placement (AP) tests
Testing ready on ACT test
Earning C or better on dual or concurrent course.
I just wanted to remind everyone that as we move through the 1st semester the time to make-up any "I's" (incompletes) or improve grades from the second semester of 17-18 closes. No changes will be made to 2nd semester 17-18 grades after the end of this semester. If you still have unfinished business in this regard you will need to take care of it as soon as possible. In all situations students have two terms to rectify any incompletes, failures, or other grade issues. This means for first semester they would have second semester and summer school. For second semester they would have summer school and first semester of the following year.
This Tuesday is our noon PIE Meeting in the LVHS Popo Agie Room and the District-Wide PIE Meeting will be at 6pm on Monday, November, 19th at Central Office. On Friday we will proudly host our annual Veteran's Day Assembly at 1pm in the Fieldhouse. The public is invited to attend and Veteran's are especially encouraged to attend so we can pay our appropriate respects for your service.
I hope that you all have an incredible week.
