Hello Tiger Families,

It feels like we just got done celebrating an amazing fall season and then our winter sports went into action this week and showed us all that it is going to be an incredible winter season of student success and Tiger pride!

Our boys basketball team, ranked 3rd in the state in the pre-season poll wen to their tournament this weekend having to play the first, second, and fourth teams in the state.  They began with a thrilling victory over second ranked Rawlins and then defeated the top-ranked Buffalo Bison.  They ended up losing their last game against fourth ranked Worland, but gave us a lot to look forward to as they host the Lander Classic this weekend with games on Friday at 2pm and 8pm and on Saturday at 8:30am and 2:30pm.

Our girls basketball team opened facing all top teams in the state as well and were unable to secure a victory, however they had some big positives that they will take into this week as the travel to the Douglas Classic.

Our boys swim team opened in typical fashion with a big victory at the Rawlins Pentathlon where we not only won the team event but also took the top four individual honors while qualifying nine swimmers for state in multiple events .  Be sure to catch them this weekend at the Bruce Gresly Invite!

Our Wrestlers started their season off in Powell with Nathan Redman and Jack Sweeney taking second, Paxton Rees third, Caesar Weed fourth and Conor Carey sixth and all others wrestling well.

The LVHS Nordic Ski Team was on the road at Casper Mountain with our top finishes for the 5K Classic Mass Start race:
Girls: KK Sandall 3rd, Molly Fehringer, 4th, Kate Wilmot, 8th, Hazel Womack, 12th, Ursula Anderson, 15th. Boys: Zane Sandall, 6th, Kaleb Simonson, 8th, Joe Goodrich, 11th

Our Choirs will perform their Christmas Concert tonight, Monday at 7pm and our Bands will perform their Christmas Concert tomorrow, Tuesday at 7pm.

Today we will do our last student celebration of 2018 by honoring our state champion girls swim team, our football team, the Oklahoma Musical as well as our musicians who have been named all-state or all-northwest, our Mock Trial Students, and our student publications team. Celebrations happen every second Monday of the month at 3pm in the LVHS Auditorium.

Our FBLA will host their annual Finals Review and Catch-up session this Thursday at 6pm.  If your student has work to do please encourage them to attend.  The FBLA works to secure teachers from most departments to be able to assist students while also providing refreshments and a good atmosphere to focus on school work.

Please remember that next Friday the 21st is a half day for students and the only LVHS students that will need to attend are the ones that we will send letters home to.  Essentially, all students who have all of their finals and homework complete will be excused that day.  We will send letters at the beginning of the week, however teachers may also ask students who fall behind after the letters are sent to return to finish items on that Friday.  Students will be dismissed when they finish with all students released no later than 12:30 when the busses will pick up students.
