Hello Parents,

Well somehow the last week of the semester is upon us and with it comes a few reminders.  Please remember that because our transition to Standards Based Grading we will not be doing the typical Finals exam, however students still have plenty of work to do to finalize proficiencies on standards and complete any missing work to ensure the teachers have a clear view of their knowledge of each standards.  I want to remind you all that right now we have students with grades that will ultimately be turned to "I" or incomplete at the end of the semester.  This will only happen if your student falls into two different categories:

  • If your student has missing work that is needed in order for the teacher to make a determination on student's knowledge and ability on the standards.

  • If your student has less than a 2.5 in any standard, thus triggering a need for additional practice or resources.

Please  know that if either of these happen, your student will have another opportunity through SRB credit recovery time and even summer school if needed to ensure they are proficient on each priority standard.  Please keep in mind that grades will not be final until the report card is printed and mailed to you.  Teachers have January 3rd to finalize their grades and then post them for us to send home report cards.

Remember that our schedule this week is slightly different with Monday and Tuesday being a traditional Mon/Tues schedule, Wednesday we will follow a traditional Friday schedule with students going to all classes, however they will be shorter due to the early out on Wednesday.  On Thursday, we will be doing the final completion of assignments, standards, tests and projects, but for students finished with all of that we will be having a volleyball tournament in the morning followed by lunch and our Giving Day community service projects in the afternoon.   Students are off on Friday and will return from break on Thursday, January 4th.  One final detail is to remind your students that there will be no schedule changes for second semester after Thursday.  Counselors have been working with students for the last couple weeks on second semester schedule changes and that will be final come Thursday.

Congrats to the Lady Tiger Basketball team for a great weekend in the Lander Classic where they finished 3-0, wrestling finished 3rd, skiing another flight of top finishers and swimmers racking up some more qualifiers.  Boys basketball went 1-2 at the Douglas tournament and Speech and Debate had several students break in many events as well.

I hope everyone has a very happy holiday season with a chance to spend some quality time with friends and loved ones. Please know that I am grateful for the opportunity to work with you and your students and look forward to another fabulous year working to ensure the success of all of our students.
