Dear Junior Parents,

As we're doing course selection for the 2018-2019 school year, we wanted to let you know about an opportunity for next year's seniors.

LVHS has a wonderful program whereby 12th graders can "mentor" in a 9th grade core classroom and help freshmen transition to high school.

NOLS provides students with a once-in-a-lifetime 7-day leadership expedition tailored to prepare students for their role as a mentor and leader.  Previous students who've taken part in this program have told us that it's been a great addition to their college application and resume.

The Lander Valley Leadership Expedition will take place from 7/28-8/4.  The cost for this will be $100 to the student.  LVHS will cover the remainder of the cost.

After students arrive back from the NOLS trip, they get to help with the 9th Grade Orientation for incoming 9th graders on 8/7 and 8/8 then will be assigned to a classroom for one period over the school year.

If your student is interested in becoming a senior mentor next year, please remind them to complete the application and submit it to me by April 20, 2018.

Let me know if you have any questions.

Mrs. Stanbury, LVHS Counselor
