Dear Parent/Guardian:

I am writing this letter to let you know that Pathfinder High School did not make AYP (Average Yearly Progress) on Wyoming’s state assessment in all content areas for the fourth year under the requirements of the federal No Child Left Behind legislation.  As you may know, Pathfinder High School is a Schoolwide Title I school that receives Title I funds designed to help students who are not achieving at grade-level in high poverty schools. By not making AYP for four consecutive years, we are now in Corrective Action and Planning for Restructuring.  Thus, we are required to offer public school choice and make supplemental education services available to all students enrolled at Pathfinder.

When a school is identified for program improvement, No Child Left Behind regulations require that schools offer parents school choice. This means that, if a parent wishes, he/she may send their child to another school in the district that is currently making adequate yearly progress and transportation will be provided by the school district under current policies. Priority is given to the lowest achieving students from low-income families. If you would like to transfer your child to Lander Valley High School you must complete the enclosed school choice form and return it to Pathfinder.

Please review our SES letter below:

Parents are invited to provide feedback to our school improvement and restructuring plans. Please look for your meeting invitation in the mail.  I can visit with you individually to discuss all the options you have if you wish.  Please call me at (307) 355-7050 to set up such an appointment.

Sincerely,

Ely Sixbey

Pathfinder Administrator
