Assessment Literacy PD Opportunity

Assessment Literacy Training for Teachers

The Wyoming Department of Education (WDE) will engage a cohort of Wyoming educators in discussions about assessment using resources created through a partnership with the National Center for Improvement of Education Assessment. The goals of the assessment literacy training are to challenge and revise misconceptions about assessment, enhance knowledge about assessment, and provide opportunities to practice appropriate and accurate assessment uses. Educators will complete prerecorded modules prior to meeting virtually with WDE staff to engage in assessment discussions. Current and preservice teachers are welcome to participate at no cost.

To register, please complete the Assessment Literacy PD Registration form. Participants will receive a confirmation email with meeting details and instructions for accessing modules.

Flex Time

Gannett Peak has flex time built into the master schedule to provide extra reading support to students in need. This is to ensure that all students can read at grade level or above. Due to the overlap in time frames, this part of the schedule occurs during the science and social studies block. All students will receive exposure to science and social studies content. We may not assign a grade for science and social studies to students receiving the extra reading support during flex time depending on their readiness for assessments.

Foreign Languages Are Now World Languages

The Legislature passed a bill replacing “foreign languages” with “world languages” in all state education statutes. House Enrolled Act 46 is effective July 1, 2022. The measure also corrects the spelling in all statutes referring to the Eastern Shoshone and Northern Arapaho Tribes.
