During these last two weeks of school 7th and 8th Sabers are participating in Fremont County Days. These place based learning experiences, headed by Mr. Horton, and supported by multiple community organizations, are getting students outdoors to experience the wonders of Wyoming. In addition to learning about fish and sheep, students are learning local geology, stewardship and back packing skills while also hiking, mountain biking, and rock climbing. Stay tuned for more photos in the days to come!

Eighth grade Sabers are learning about astronomy as they wrap up their year in science. Today our multi-talented school librarian Mrs. Babits spoke to students about her father's 17 year career with NASA where he worked on the Apollo missions. We love when our staff can double as guest speakers!

This Saber Spotlight celebrates our Physical Education and Music Teachers! If you ask most middle schoolers what the best part of the day is, they'll tell you PE. A large part of that is due to Mr. Cooper's and Mrs. Kraenzels bravery in standing in a room with balls flying around their heads each day! This dynamic duo is also tasked with teaching about health and wellness and coaching multiple sports throughout the year. Mr. Cooper and Mrs. K. build solid relationships with all students and are willing to try whatever it takes to help students find success. They work hard to keep students active and learning fun, which has made them favorites of both students and staff. They go above and beyond every day in the gym, the weight room and across the school as they pitch in to help colleagues whenever they can.
Our music department is no less extraordinary as they work to get students concert ready multiple times a year. For many of our Sabers, music offers a way to express themselves and engages them in school beyond the classroom. The very knowledgeable and talented Dr. Vollbrecht, in choir, and Dr. Parker, in band, offer students the opportunity to build relationships with peers and develop new talents. Studies indicate that students who participate in music at school reap significant academic rewards. LMS is grateful to have such a dedicated and determined music department!

We've had a great week celebrating our Saber Staff! Teacher Appreciation Week comes to a close with our favorite new tradition of transforming our principals into baristas. Mr. Morton and Mr. Horton made rounds through the hallways this morning to deliver coffee, burritos and pastries to our fabulous staff to thank them for all their hard work and dedication this year.

Ous Saber Staff Spotlight this week shines on our Life Skills team, led by Ms. Belkin. Ms. Belkin is new to LMS this year! She's done a fabulous job of leading her team of veteran paraprofessionals in supporting our students with the most diverse academic, physical and social emotional needs. Ms. Belkin's quiet, caring and thoughtful nature has been a huge asset to our team. Paraprofessionals, Mrs. Burton, Mrs. Conilogue, Mr. Pettibone and Mr. Worthington go above and beyond every day in making sure they're students are loved and supported at whatever level they are at. This team also jumps in to help as needed around the building. Their smiling faces fill LMS with Saber Spirit!
